Play was suspended for the rest of the day at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Thursday following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The news of the Queen’s death at 96 was announced by Buckingham Palace on Thursday afternoon.
A statement from the DP World Tour said all facilities in the Championship Village would be closed with “immediate effect.”
“Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, play in the BMW PGA Championship has been suspended for the remainder of Thursday,” the statement said.
“All facilities in the Championship Village will close with immediate effect.
“Further updates and guidance will be provided shortly.”
